Four months of listening
My Platform for Arnprior
I did not begin with a list of promises. I began by meeting people, asking questions and listening. Those conversations shaped these priorities.
Responsible spending, taxes and long-term planning
Arnprior has approximately $144 million in capital needs forecast over the next decade. I will work with Council and staff to question costs, review priorities, pursue grants and ensure maximum value for every dollar spent.
I will not make an arbitrary tax promise before reviewing the complete financial picture. Plans must be monitored and adjusted as costs, funding and community needs change.
Stronger working relationships
I will meet directly with Council, staff, road crews, residents, business owners, developers and community organizations to understand what is working, where obstacles exist and what practical improvements can be made.
Responsible growth requires proper planning, sufficient infrastructure and clear communication.
Protecting infrastructure and community services
I will focus on roads, sidewalks, parks, recreation and the services our growing community depends on. I also want stronger relationships with Arnprior Regional Health, the Grove, the library and community organizations.
Revitalizing and beautifying downtown
I want to work with businesses, property owners, staff and Council on improved maintenance, better winter conditions, attractive public spaces and practical ways to bring more people downtown.
We must give visitors reasons to stay, shop, eat and come back.
Improving Arnprior’s gateway entrances
Madawaska Boulevard, Daniel Street, John Street and Baskin Drive create the first impression of our community. I will examine landscaping, signage, maintenance, property standards and appropriate bylaws in cooperation with property and business owners.
Finding grants and using technology responsibly
Arnprior should be proactive in identifying funding opportunities. Modern tools, including artificial intelligence, may help staff find grants, organize information and reduce repetitive work.
Technology should support staff—not replace their knowledge or judgment—and any use must protect privacy and confidential information.
Lighting and improving the Madawaska River bridge
I want to explore turning the bridge into an attractive, brightly lit feature that encourages visitors to stop, visit downtown, shop, eat and return.
Before any decision, I would investigate design options, costs, grants, partnerships, maintenance and potential economic benefit.
An idea worth exploring
An indoor sports dome
This is not a campaign promise. On the Mayor’s time and salary, I will investigate community demand, possible locations, construction and operating costs, grants, partnerships and the experience of other municipalities.
I am promising to do the homework and bring reliable information to Council and the community so we can decide whether the idea makes sense for Arnprior.
What I’ve learned
People are proud of Arnprior, but they are concerned about rising costs, taxes, roads and sidewalks, responsible growth, recreation, our downtown and the ability to get answers from Town Hall.
People don’t expect a Mayor to arrive with every answer. They expect the Mayor to be available, listen carefully, ask the right questions, follow up and put in the time required to get things done.
My central commitment
An Every Day Mayor
Arnprior will be my full-time focus. I will be present at Town Hall every day, working with Council and Town Staff and making myself available to the CAO, Developers, Business Owners and all residents.
